The role of lighting designer
Lighting design is an interdisciplinary field; the designers must understand the bases, purposes and goals of other design fields, and, based on these, create suggestions in a form that can be commented on. The main area of expertise for a trained lighting designer includes controlling the space with light and commanding lighting techniques in order to achieve the desired visual results. The task of a lighting designer is to define the aesthetic and technical whole that is the dark environment together with other designers, while understanding and taking into consideration the goals of the customer.
